FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GET THE ANSWER.
THEN DECIDE WHAT’S NEXT

Most questions before a project fall into the same few categories: what the work includes, how the process works, how payments and timelines are handled, and whether Northlane is the right fit in the first place.

This page is meant to answer those questions plainly. If yours is more specific, the form at the bottom goes directly to the team.

GOOD QUESTIONS SAVE BAD PROJECTS.
We would rather clarify the fit, process, and expectations early than make you discover them halfway through the work.

Better yet, we offer FREE initial consultations for businesses joining our network for the first time. This isn’t a song and dance to sell you something that day, we genuinely believe in proving our value to earn your business.

01

How is pricing determined?

We scope the actual work first, then define the recommended services, deliverables, responsibilities, timeline, and commercial terms in the agreement.

02

How long will the project take?

The timeline follows the scope. Integrations, content readiness, approvals, and complexity matter more than forcing every project into the same turnaround.

03

Are Demo Sites templates?

No. They are partially built, hand-curated systems that can become the backbone of the final site and reduce the early design phase without requiring commitment before you choose one.

THE DETAILS BEFORE THE DETAILS

Open only what you need. The answers below cover the policies and process questions that come up most often before a consultation or agreement.

Projects & Pricing
How is pricing determined?+
We scope around the work the business actually needs. After the consultation, we define the recommended services, deliverables, responsibilities, timeline, and commercial terms in an agreement. We are intentionally moving away from using one public pricing catalog as if every project fits the same box.
How do larger projects get billed?+
Larger projects can be divided into payment phases. A deposit is required to begin the project, progress payments may be scheduled as work advances, and the final payment is due according to the agreement before final delivery or handoff.
How long is a quote or agreement valid?+
Unless the agreement states otherwise, the quoted price and planned timeline are held for 14 days from delivery. The project is secured once the required deposit and signatures are completed.
Do you offer discounts?+
We try to keep pricing consistent instead of inflating work just to discount it later. When we run a specific promotional, demo-site, bundled, or limited offer, the terms are stated clearly rather than hidden behind a negotiation process.
Project Process
When does the project timeline start?+
Each project receives a defined delivery scope during the consultation and agreement process. The current standard language on our agreements begins the contracted project window after the deposit and Northlane countersignature; any project-specific timing is documented in the agreement.
How long will my project take?+
That depends on scope, integrations, content readiness, approvals, and the number of moving parts involved. We define the expected timeline before the project begins rather than promising the same turnaround for every service.
Can Northlane continue supporting the work after launch?+
Yes. Ongoing Growth can cover website care, search, content, creative, campaign adjustments, store changes, troubleshooting, and other recurring needs. The ongoing scope can stay focused or move across service lanes as the business changes.
What happens if I already have systems or vendors in place?+
We do not assume everything needs to be replaced. We first identify what is already working, what should stay, and where the actual gap is. A project may involve extending, integrating, or improving an existing stack instead of rebuilding it.
Northlane & Services
Do you only build websites?+
No. Northlane's primary service lanes include Web & Commerce, Brand & Design, Photo & Video, Marketing & Search, Sales & CRM, Custom Systems, and Ongoing Growth. A project can stay inside one lane or combine several when the business problem crosses disciplines.
Are the Demo Sites templates?+
No. Demo Sites are hand-curated website systems that are intentionally built part of the way before a customer commits. They establish the design direction, page structure, and responsive foundation, but still require your branding, content, integrations, working features, and project-specific finish work. Choosing one can skip a significant part of the early design phase because it becomes the backbone of the final build rather than just inspiration.
Where do you work?+
Our core team is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Many of our web, e-commerce, marketing, search, CRM, design, and custom-system services can be delivered remotely for businesses across the United States.
How do I join the team?+
We periodically add team members and contractors as capacity and market needs change. Current opportunities and application information are posted on the Employment page when roles are available.
BEFORE WE ASK FOR A COMMITMENT

THE CONSULTATION SHOULD MAKE THE NEXT STEP CLEARER

The point of the first conversation is to understand the business, identify the actual problem, and determine what makes sense to do next. It should not require you to buy something just to get a useful answer.

01 · CONTEXT
What is happening now?

02 · OPTIONS
What could realistically solve it?

03 · SCOPE
What should Northlane actually be responsible for?

04 · DECISION
Move forward only when the direction makes sense.
